Defining the terms for the management and temporary activation of the former Nantes University Hospital site.

As part of the relocation of the University Hospital and Nantes University to the new hospital site in 2027, Plateau Urbain is assisting SAMOA and Nantes Métropole in planning for the transformation of the historic Hôtel-Dieu site. The mission aims to define the technical, operational, and programmatic conditions necessary for the gradual takeover of this real estate complex of over 250,000 m² located in the heart of downtown.

In parallel with the work carried out by the urban project management team, Plateau Urbain is contributing its expertise on the transitional activation of buildings and outdoor spaces: identifying technical and regulatory constraints, analyzing the potential for frugal reuse of the buildings, and defining the initial terms for temporary occupancy.

This project helps prepare for the gradual transformation of this former “hospital complex” into a new, mixed-use, vibrant, and open part of the city, while experimenting with transitional uses capable of supporting the site’s various phases of transformation.
