As part of the relocation of Sorbonne-Nouvelle University, currently located on the historic Censier site in the heart of the 5th arrondissement, EPAURIF wishes to implement a temporary use of the site prior to the start of renovation work, scheduled for 2023. Plateau Urbain has been commissioned to assess the technical and legal feasibility of a temporary use of the site. Through a large number of interviews with institutional stakeholders and local community members, a temporary program has been developed aimed at maintaining a university presence within this historic university (which will subsequently retain its academic purpose) and opening the site to the city by proposing a temporary occupation project centered on the transmission of knowledge, as well as collaboration with community organizations, cultural, and economic actors present in the surrounding area, in response to the significant need for workspaces and training facilities in central Paris, to experiment with new methods of knowledge dissemination.
