Why a series on the city?

The city is a phenomenon that affects the vast majority of the population. 93% of the population lives within the influence of cities, 63% of whom live in urban areas with more than 200,000 inhabitants (INSEE, 2020). It embodies all the challenges of our contemporary society, whether social or ecological.

Why in a third place?

These conversations take place at Césure, a third place for unexpected knowledge, in a former university that still welcomes 2,000 students a day. In an effort to create a community college focused on urban issues, we are experimenting with new formats that prioritize substance to revitalize how knowledge is shared and to spark new conversations about the city among urban planners, project leaders, architects, engineers, policymakers, researchers, and citizens.

These events are organized by Plateau Urbain, Surface+Utile, Vraiment Vraiment, Bellevilles, Le Sens de la Ville, Yes We Camp, Bellastock, and Encore Heureux, all of whom are based at Césure.

The conversations are free lectures!
