In the heart of Paris’s 14th arrondissement, across from the Paris Montparnasse train station, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW)—owner of the Les Ateliers Gaîté shopping center—in partnership with Plateau Urbain, is making several retail spaces available to host social and solidarity economy (SSE) organizations, artists, and associations.
This project, designed in partnership with the 14th arrondissement city hall, Plateau Urbain, Yes We Camp, and local stakeholders, aims to encourage creative, participatory, and local initiatives that contribute to the neighborhood’s vibrancy and the shopping center’s positive social impact. With some sixty shops, a gourmet food hall, a library, a daycare center, and communal spaces, the center offers a modern, open, and bright environment conducive to socializing and sharing. The goal of this temporary occupancy is to test and promote short-term uses within the center. Certain activities may be maintained long-term if they become a sustainable part of the site’s programming.
The spaces offered under this call for applications consist of four “white box” retail units, located on the first floor of the Les Ateliers Gaîté center, ranging from 34 m² to 96 m². The units are Type M public access premises (retail).
For these spaces, there will be no fixed rent but rather a fee proportional to pre-tax revenue to be paid to the owner in the amount of 5%—with monthly revenue reporting and quarterly fee collection. The shopping center’s common expenses amount to €0. Only electricity and water will be the responsibility of the entities occupying the units.
