BOB (Building Open to Diversions) is a temporary third place where cultural, circular, solidarity-based, and social projects take shape.
With its 105 resident project leaders—whether in the 3,000 m² of office space or the 13,000 m² of industrial halls—the BOB welcomes stakeholders in the fields of social integration, reuse, crafts, solidarity, entrepreneurship, and the cultural sector.
In 2026, the BOB decided to open La Multi to bring the neighborhood’s aspirations and initiatives to life. La Multi offers 600 m² of space with four meeting rooms for 10 to 35 people, as well as a 200 m² communal area that can be reserved for private use.
A diverse and rich program of events is offered throughout the year for all audiences.
This “third place” is part of the L’étape 22D site, straddling eastern Villeurbanne (the Carré de Soie neighborhood) and southern Vaulx-en-Velin. With its 4 hectares of buildings and outdoor spaces, it is one of the major mixed-use transitional urban development projects in the Lyon Metropolitan Area, where advocates for active mobility, emergency shelters, and educational programs come together.
Located within the third-place space Le Bob, housed in the former Bobst à la Soie factories, a new space is expanding the opportunities available to local stakeholders: La Multi. Designed as an open, vibrant, and participatory space, it is intended to become a true hub for initiatives, community projects, and local activities.
