As part of the urban renewal of the Python-Duvernois neighborhood—which, after several years of planning, will be rolled out progressively from south to north—SEMAPA sought to define a transitional urban planning strategy aimed at mitigating the nuisances caused by the construction work. The mission entrusted to the consortium of Plateau Urbain, Sens de la Ville, and Unity Cube consists of identifying strategic sites for the implementation of transitional uses and activations for the benefit of neighborhood residents, in line with the progress of the construction projects. Through technical and capacity assessments, the study examines ground-floor spaces in buildings, a former gas station, residential units, and outdoor areas, including a 7,000-square-meter vacant lot resulting from the demolition of two buildings. Numerous interviews and participation in neighborhood meetings reveal the challenge of retaining the community’s active members. Active spaces will be made available to neighborhood associations, but the consortium also recommends renewing and expanding a program previously implemented on the neighborhood’s sports fields (La Plaine Estivale) to ensure the revitalization of this neglected area.
