Nathalie Smaguine is best known for her figurative paintings that confront us with the intimacy of our relationship with our bodies. Her main themes are the body, couples, and portraits. Sensitive to the complexity of human relationships, her depiction of naked, entwined bodies offering themselves to one another in the act of love draws the viewer’s gaze and raises the question of desire within erotic union. She discovered this third place located in Cachan (92) through Plateau Urbain, whose updates she had been following for some time. La Pampa, in her own words, provides her with the human richness that inspires her daily: encounters with other residents allow her to exchange ideas, learn, discover, and grow. The space also enables her to collaborate with others on various projects, such as open houses where they could present their different activities to the public.
The positive atmosphere at La Pampa is palpable: “What’s happening at La Pampa is magical and interesting; I’ve made friends there. The space is ideal for working quietly in a comfortable environment; I’m thrilled to come here to work every morning.”
