Village Reille is a mixed-use temporary third place initiated by the Plateau Urbain cooperative, in partnership with the Aurore and Caracol associations. Opened in 2021, it is located in the former convent of the Franciscan sisters in the 14th arrondissement, made available by In’li and Emerige, pending the implementation of a future renovation project.
This space, with 3,500 square meters of indoor and 3,500 square meters of outdoor areas, brings together a diverse range of stakeholders engaged in a collective and intercultural project. It houses workspaces for associations, young social and solidarity economy enterprises, as well as artists’ studios, and now comprises 113 organizations. In addition, the emergency shelter managed by the Association Aurore has supported 55 women and 25 children in precarious situations over the past four years, while the Caracol association promotes solidarity-based shared housing among young professionals, students, and refugees.
A true urban oasis, Village Reille is a hub for social, cultural, and artistic experimentation, where everyone can contribute to a shared project while developing their own initiatives. It regularly hosts artistic events, some of which are organized by the Village Reille artists’ collective. The chapel on the site is a space available for private use that has already served as a venue for exhibitions, concerts, and other cultural events.
In keeping with the Franciscan sisters’ commitment to mutual aid and solidarity, our ambition is to make Village Reille
a collaborative, innovative, and welcoming space where meaningful initiatives intersect and take shape.
The building complex is slated for a future renovation project, which will offer transitional housing in the center of a vast open garden space, whose unique biodiversity will be protected.
