Based in Marseille since 2019 in Belsunce, one of the city’s priority neighborhoods, Coco Velten is a project involving the temporary occupation of the former Mediterranean Roads Authority building. Led by Yes we Camp, in partnership with Groupe SOS and the Plateau Urbain cooperative, the site combines 40 workshops/offices, 80 emergency housing units, a cultural program, and public spaces open to everyone.
The project is based on the diversity of the people and skills present on-site. The selection of occupant organizations was conducted following a call for applications organized by Plateau Urbain; the cooperative is also responsible for facilitating the occupant ecosystem, in alignment with neighborhood dynamics and for the benefit of residents.

Coco Velten is the first initiative to emerge from Lab Zéro, a regional public innovation laboratory led by the PACA Regional Prefecture. This initiative aims to combat homelessness by expanding access to housing and social support services.
