RESIDENT PROFILE – GRACIELA TORRE

I am an urban architect and I run an architecture firm, TAW, which has been in business for 20 years. My colleague and I often work on our own, and the team size varies depending on the scope of the projects. We are primarily involved in projects related to public spaces, transportation, and healthcare facilities.

The benefit of sharing a space with other organizations—and meeting people from different sectors and fields—is that it allows us to expand our network. This has allowed me to form friendships and connections, and to organize exhibitions or activities during open houses. It opens up new perspectives and fosters exchange with other practices. This experience even led me to become a member of the Plateau Urbain cooperative. I was able to visit several other sites, which taught me the true meaning of community. Today, I feel deeply committed. On an urban level, the Village Reille is particularly significant, as it offers the chance to discover very interesting projects. For example, the filming of the movie *The Killer* here was impressive: seeing this kind of work up close was truly enriching.

Regarding the CHU, the exchange was also very enriching. Participating in activities and observing daily life was a valuable experience for me as an architect.

Currently, we are working on a “respite centers” project, a space designed to accommodate adolescents with psychiatric disorders. The project includes workshops, consultation rooms, rest areas… It was truly motivating to lead such a socially engaged project. We began with meetings based on the “Open Dialogue” method, a Nordic practice aimed at helping people in distress. We also organized “making space” workshops with psychologists and sociologists, and the Village Reille provided us with the necessary spaces for these gatherings.
